What is Product Detective?
Product Detective is a visual discovery game for trade show booths and brand events. A visitor gets 75 seconds, which you can set between 60 and 90, to tap the products hidden in a realistic scene. Each find opens a short benefit card in your words, and the clock pauses while they read it. A hint helps anyone who is stuck, at a point cost you choose. The results screen shows an anonymous leaderboard and an optional follow-up form, where the visitor decides whether to share details. Your team builds the scene in Campaign Studio: upload a photo, draw a box around each product, write the benefits, add your branding and publish. After setup it runs on the device with no internet connection.

Product Detective: visitors hunt for your products, hidden in a realistic scene. The clock pauses while they read each benefit. Now make it yours in Campaign Studio, with no code. Upload your own scene photo. Draw a box around each product, by touch or mouse. Add each product’s name, hint, points and benefit. Set your branding, rules and wording. Preview before anything goes live. Publish a new version. Export the campaign as a ZIP to move it to a second kiosk. Then play: your scene, your products, your brand. Scores stay anonymous, and follow-up is always the visitor’s choice. Product Detective: a visual discovery game for your booth. Works offline after setup. Fierce Guppy.
What Product Detective does for your booth
Teach visitors what your products do by making them find the products and read the benefit, one by one
Rebuild the game around a new scene and product range yourself, by uploading a photo and drawing the products, without a developer
Collect follow-up interest that visitors chose to share, kept apart from the game score and exported with its consent
Keep the booth running through a poor connection, because the game works offline once it is set up
How Product Detective works at your booth
1
The start screen shows your scene, the round length and the number of products to find, and a visitor taps anywhere to open the case.
2
A quick mission card explains the rules, and the visitor taps I'm ready for a 3-2-1-GO countdown before the clock starts.
3
The visitor taps the products they spot in the scene, or asks for a hint, while the timer ring counts down.
4
Each find opens a benefit card in your words with the points earned, and the clock pauses until the visitor continues.
5
The results screen shows the score, a detective rank and stars, the products found, an anonymous leaderboard and your call to action.
6
The visitor can choose follow-up topics and a demo request, and the game resets for the next player.
Product Detective features and branding options
Key features
A timed hunt of 60 to 90 seconds (75 by default) in a realistic scene, with every product scored once and no penalty for a wrong tap
The clock pauses during every benefit reveal, including the last one, so visitors read at their own pace
Hints that highlight the next product they have not found, from a number you set, with a point cost you choose (two hints at 25 points each by default)
Two starter scenes included: The connected factory and Inside the digital backbone, each with six products
Campaign Studio: upload your own scene photo, draw product hotspots with touch or a mouse, and move, resize or type exact coordinates for each one
Per-product name, category, hint, points, benefit text, optional image and optional HTTPS link
Checks before you publish: hotspots must stay inside the image, be large enough to tap and not overlap heavily
Draft preview that records no scores or leads, and publishing that creates a new numbered version; a round already in progress keeps the version it started with
Campaign ZIP export and import, with the images included, to copy a campaign to a second kiosk; imports arrive as drafts until you publish
An anonymous leaderboard with "Detective" aliases, scoped to the campaign and version
Optional follow-up form after the round, with consent, product-interest choices and a demo request that start unchecked and are independent; a visitor's score never counts as buying intent
Encrypted lead storage on the device, with a retention period (30 days by default), and an event export ZIP with a consent-aware lead CSV, sessions, anonymous scores and analytics without personal details
Works offline after setup: the app and the starter scenes are cached on the device, and uploaded scenes and event data stay in the browser's storage
Operator PIN that protects the Campaign Studio and settings from accidental changes at the booth
Keyboard access: Tab to a product and press Enter or Space to discover it, with a visible focus outline as an alternative to the visual search
Sound with mute and volume, a reduced-motion setting that the game follows, and sounds that are built in rather than loaded from the internet
A start screen that returns by itself after the results, and recovery that records an abandoned round without a leaderboard score and discards partial personal details
What you can customize
Your own scene: a PNG, JPEG or WebP photo up to 5 MB and 4096 pixels on its longest edge
From 1 to 20 products per scene, each drawn directly over the photo
Each product's name, category, hint, points, benefit, picture and link
Round length from 60 to 90 seconds, the number of hints, the hint point cost and the seconds before the game resets
Your logo, a primary colour, an accent colour and a choice of three fonts (system, serif or mono)
The start button, the briefing, the results headline and the call-to-action text and link
Every line of wording on every screen, in a wording editor, so one campaign can carry a translated interface
Follow-up form: off, optional or required, with your own consent wording, and whether the leaderboard is shown
Product-interest choices that follow the products in your scene
Sound on or off with volume, an optional on-screen keyboard for the follow-up form and kiosk settings
Several campaigns in one workspace, duplicated from a starter or from your own, and moved between devices as ZIP files

A game built from scratch around your product, your mechanic, your story.
Yes. In Campaign Studio, upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image up to 5 MB and 4096 pixels on its longest edge, then draw a box around each product. Studio checks that every box is inside the image, large enough to tap and not heavily overlapping another before you can publish.
How do we mark the products in the scene?
With the Draw product tool, drag a box over each product with touch or a mouse, then move or resize it, or type exact percentage coordinates. For each product you add a name, category, hint, points and the benefit text a visitor reads on discovery. You can add from 1 to 20 products per scene.
Does the clock keep running while visitors read a benefit?
No. The clock pauses when a benefit card opens, including the last one, and restarts when the visitor taps Keep hunting. Time spent reading is not counted against them.
How do hints work, and do they cost points?
A hint highlights the next product the visitor has not found. By default each round has two hints, and a hinted find earns 25 fewer points. You set the number of hints and the point cost. A wrong tap has no penalty.
Does Product Detective capture leads?
Optionally. After the round, a visitor can choose the products they want to hear about, ask for a demo and agree to share their details with your team. The product-interest choices and the demo request are separate and start unchecked, and the score has no part in them. You can turn the form off, make it optional or make it required. There is no CRM integration: you export the leads from the device.
Where is visitor data stored, and how do we get it out?
On the booth device only. Contact details are stored encrypted, and the operator unlocks them with a passphrase. A retention period applies, 30 days by default. At the event's close, the operator downloads an event export ZIP with a consent-aware lead CSV, sessions, anonymous scores and analytics that hold no names or emails. Export before clearing the browser's data or moving to another device.
Does it work without internet at the venue?
Yes, once set up. While online, open the built app, activate the licence, publish your campaign and wait for the Ready for offline play message, then reload and test with the network turned off before you travel. Serve the app from HTTPS or the bundled local server, never from a file on disk. The licence has a signed expiry and offline window, so reconnect before it ends.
Can we move a campaign to a second kiosk?
Yes. Export the campaign from Campaign Studio as a ZIP, which includes the scene image and any product pictures, and import it on the other device. It arrives as a draft, and you publish it there. Each kiosk keeps its own scores and leads, so export each one's event data separately.
Which devices and browsers does it run on?
Product Detective is a web game for touchscreen kiosks and laptops, played full screen in a current browser. Its layouts are checked at 1920x1080, 1366x768 and 1024x768 in landscape and at 390x844 in portrait. Native Windows and macOS apps are not part of this version. Rehearse touch and kiosk settings on the real event device.
How quickly can we launch this at an event?
Most teams launch in days, not weeks. Setup is designed to be straightforward for event staff.
Can this be customized to our brand?
Yes. You can start with a ready format and add your visual identity, messaging, and preferred calls-to-action.
Do we need technical staff at the booth?
No. The experience is built for non-technical teams with a clear operator flow and simple launch process.
What happens after the event?
You receive structured lead data and can review engagement outcomes to plan the next event iteration.
What hardware does Product Detective need?
Product Detective is designed for A touchscreen kiosk display (layouts are checked at 1920x1080, 1366x768 and 1024x768 landscape, and 390x844 portrait), Or a laptop or desktop computer, A current web browser, with the built folder served from HTTPS or the bundled local server (which needs Node.js 22 or later). Supported inputs include Touch input, Mouse or trackpad, Keyboard (Tab to a product, Enter or Space to discover it), Optional on-screen keyboard for the follow-up form.
Does Product Detective work without venue Wi-Fi?
Needed once, to install and activate the licence and to let the app cache itself. After the Ready for offline play message the game, Campaign Studio, lead storage and exports run on the device without a connection, until the licence's signed expiry or offline window ends. Reconnect before then.
