Goals and Challenges

Goals

  • Create a cohesive visual identity across gameplay, economy, and store-facing UI.
  • Improve interaction quality with smoother controls and cleaner navigation behavior.
  • Stabilize core game loops such as loss conditions, resets, and tutorial flow.
  • Prepare app stores and IAP structure for compliant mobile publishing.
  • Optimize build footprint for better install performance on lower-end devices.

Challenges

  • Early builds had mixed visual language and disconnected monetization cues.
  • Swipe and map/menu interactions conflicted, creating UX friction.
  • Tutorial interactions could collide with audio and UI triggers.
  • Platform setup complexity spanned merchant, identifiers, and policy workflows.
  • Large Android package size reduced install accessibility and usability.

Approach and Technology

"David Spurlock and Fierce Guppy were a very reliable software/app development service to hire. There was never a time where I questioned my decision to work with them. They're knowledgeable in coding and have a cultural intelligence of the modern silicon valley tech ecosystem which gives them valuable problem solving abilities when dealing with IOS and Google's always changing guidelines and new email policies. My app is the best it could be and I owe it to this freelancer."
