What is Overcharge?

Overcharge is a two-player push-your-luck game for a touchscreen, played head to head on one split screen. Each player holds a button to charge a hot-air balloon and lets go to lock in their time. A hidden burst point is shared by both players, and anyone still holding when it arrives bursts and scores nothing. Once one player locks in, the other sees the time to beat and must decide how far to push. The higher safe time wins the round, and the first to win two rounds takes the match (best of three, or best of five if you choose). A solo visitor plays a Bot that takes the second seat. Each registered player’s Closest Call, the smallest margin by which they locked in before the burst, goes to a leaderboard, and your logo goes on the balloons.

Both players hold to inflate their balloons. Player 1 locks in at 3.21s, the time to beat. Player 2 pushes too far and bursts at 5.48s, so Player 1 wins the round. Walk up to the booth and tap the screen. Pick your name: one or two players, and a single player faces a Bot (sample names). Hold your button to charge and let go to lock in your time. Both players hold their button to begin. The burst point is new every round. Both players lock in at 2.94s, so the tie replays the round. Hold to charge, then lock in before the balloon bursts: Player 1 locks in at 3.21s and Player 2 bursts at 3.94s. Player 1 wins the match, 2-0. The match result shows each player’s Closest Call time. The Closest Call leaderboard ranks the smallest gap to the burst (sample names and scores).

What Overcharge does for your booth

  • Draw a crowd with a head-to-head game that spectators can follow from across the booth
  • Get visitors playing in seconds with a three-step game: hold to charge, let go to lock in, don’t burst
  • Put your logo on the balloons for the whole match
  • Capture leads with built-in registration before play, and give players a Closest Call leaderboard to chase

How Overcharge works at your booth

  1. 1

Walk up, tap to play and register one or two players.

  2. 2

Both players hold their button through a 3-2-1 countdown.

  3. 3

Keep holding to charge your balloon, and let go to lock in your time.

  4. 4

When one player locks in, the other sees the time to beat and decides how far to push before the hidden burst point.

  5. 5

The reveal shows both results and the burst point, and the higher safe time wins the round.

  6. 6

The first to win two rounds wins the match, then the Closest Call leaderboard shows who held their nerve.

Overcharge FAQ

Can one visitor play Overcharge alone?

Yes. When only one player registers, a Bot takes the second seat for the whole match, so nobody waits for an opponent. If two players register and one does not hold their button in time at the start, the Bot takes that seat too. You choose the Bot’s difficulty, Easy, Normal or Hard, in the config panel. The Bot never appears on the leaderboard.

What happens if both players tie in Overcharge?

By default a tied round is replayed with a new burst point, so nobody gets a free win. In the config panel you can switch the tie rule to No Winner, where a tied round counts for neither player and the match moves on. Either way, the match has a round limit, so it always ends.

How quickly can Overcharge be ready for our event?

On-site setup: 15-25 minutes. Your logo, colours and wording are set up before the show, so on the day you connect the screen and go live.

Can this be customized to our brand?

Yes. You can start with a ready format and add your visual identity, messaging, and preferred calls-to-action.

Do we need technical staff at the booth?

No. The experience is built for non-technical teams with a clear operator flow and simple launch process.

What happens after the event?

You receive structured lead data and can review engagement outcomes to plan the next event iteration.

Do we need to order power for our booth?

Yes, if your booth does not already include it. At most US trade shows, electricity is ordered separately from the booth space through the show's exhibitor services, usually with an early-rate deadline a few weeks before the event. Order an outlet for the screen and computer when you book the rest of your booth services.

What hardware does Overcharge need?

Overcharge is designed for Touchscreen kiosk, Large display. Supported inputs include Touchscreen, Keyboard, Controller or arcade buttons.

Does Overcharge work without venue Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is needed to activate the license. Gameplay, registration, the leaderboard and data export then run on the booth with local storage, and keep working offline within the license’s offline grace window.
